Our Story

We specialize in accessible, evidence-based psychotherapy, for all.

Counselling & Behaviour Services was born out of a passion for making mental health care more inclusive and accessible. The idea took root through years of hands-on work in Toronto’s disability community, where it became clear that many individuals—particularly those with communication or cognitive challenges—were being left behind by traditional systems.

Guided by this vision, a small practice was launched in 2019 with the goal of bridging behavioural and mental health supports. Clinician Michael R. Goldberg, whose early work at Reena and Dani helped shape the practice’s values, played a key role in bringing this mission to life.

Since then, Counselling & Behaviour Services has grown into a trusted resource for individuals and families across Ontario. We now work closely with hospitals, school boards, and community agencies—often supporting clients when other services don’t know where to turn.

Our Approach

Niche-Focused Mental Health Practice

Our practice is grounded in both talk therapy and behavioural approaches, allowing us to serve neurodivergent clients and those with intellectual or developmental disabilities with empathy and clinical skill. We tailor every session to reflect how you learn, communicate, and process the world.

We specialize in accessible, evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals with:

  • Autism and ADHD

  • Developmental and learning disabilities

  • Physical disabilities

  • Complex mental health diagnoses

Our team is trained to adapt therapy for neurodivergent clients, including those with limited verbal communication, sensory sensitivities, or cognitive challenges.
We strive to break down barriers that often exclude people from traditional care.

Our Mission

At Counselling & Behaviour Services, our mission is to make high-quality mental health care more accessible, inclusive, and impactful—especially for individuals and families who have historically been underserved by traditional models of therapy.

We operate at the unique intersection of psychotherapy and disability, grounded in the belief that mental health care must be as diverse and multifaceted as the people it serves. Our clinicians bring deep expertise in both behavioural and talk therapies, allowing us to support neurodivergent clients, individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and their families with compassion and clinical skill.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Whether it’s adapting therapy tools to meet a client’s communication style, offering flexible scheduling for busy caregivers, or providing a space that welcomes all identities and abilities—our work is rooted in respect, responsiveness, and genuine partnership.

Because everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. Not just in therapy—but in every part of life.

  • Connection is the foundation of every meaningful change. Let's find a way forward, together.

    Michael Goldberg, Founder and Psychotherapist

  • At Counselling & Behaviour Services, we believe therapy should be as unique as the individual. That means honouring neurodiversity, adapting our tools, and always leading with compassion. Everyone deserves to feel understood—not just in theory, but in practice.

Michelle Anbar-Goldstein, Sr. Clinical Director and Psychotherapist

  • Supporting individuals with disabilities means recognizing the full person—their strengths, their challenges, and their right to be heard. Therapy should never be about fitting into a mold; it’s about creating space for every voice, every way of being.

Sabrina Propper, Clinical Director and Psychotherapist
