Counselling & Behaviour is a Toronto psychotherapy clinic specializing in mental health, neurodivergence, and complex behavioural and emotional needs.
Our Registered Social Workers support children, teens, adults, and families with concerns including anxiety, ADHD, autism, emotional dysregulation, school avoidance, executive functioning difficulties, depression, burnout, and major life transitions.
Our approach combines evidence-based psychotherapy with a practical understanding of how mental health, neurodivergence, behaviour, family, school, and everyday functioning interact.
-
Yes. Counselling & Behaviour provides neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapy for autistic and neurodivergent children, teenagers, and adults in Toronto and virtually across Ontario.
We do not treat autism as something that needs to be fixed. Therapy focuses on the concerns a person is actually experiencing, which may include anxiety, emotional regulation, rigidity, executive functioning, relationships, burnout, self-esteem, independence, or navigating school, work, and everyday life.
-
Yes. Our therapists work with children, teens, and adults with ADHD and executive functioning difficulties.
Therapy can help with emotional regulation, procrastination, organization, motivation, task initiation, impulsivity, overwhelm, routines, and the anxiety or low self-esteem that can develop after years of struggling to meet expectations.
We focus on practical strategies while helping clients better understand how their brain works.
-
Yes. Anxiety can lead children and teens to avoid school, assignments, social situations, activities, transitions, or anything else that creates significant discomfort.
Our therapists help clients and families understand the anxiety-avoidance cycle, build coping and emotional regulation skills, and gradually increase a young person's ability to approach difficult situations rather than organizing life around avoiding them.
-
Yes. We work with children, teens, and adults who experience intense emotions, meltdowns, shutdowns, impulsive reactions, conflict, or difficulty coping when overwhelmed.
Rather than focusing only on stopping a behaviour, we work to understand what is driving it. Anxiety, sensory overload, executive functioning difficulties, communication, environmental demands, neurodivergence, and emotional regulation can all play a role.
Understanding what is happening beneath the behaviour helps us develop more effective and sustainable strategies.
-
IYes. Sometimes the most effective way to help a child or teenager is to work directly with their parents.
Parent coaching can help families understand behaviour, respond to anxiety and avoidance, set effective boundaries, reduce conflict, support emotional regulation, and change patterns that may unintentionally reinforce difficulties.
Depending on the situation, parent coaching can be provided alongside individual therapy or as the primary intervention.

Counselling & Behaviour bridges the gap between traditional mental health care and developmental services.
Our clinicians understand that anxiety, ADHD, autism, executive functioning, emotional regulation, behaviour, family dynamics, and a person's environment often overlap.
Instead of forcing someone into a single diagnostic box, we look at the whole person and develop practical, evidence-informed treatment around what is actually getting in the way of their life.

You don't need to choose a therapist on your own.
Start with a free 15-minute consultation with Counselling & Behaviour. We'll learn about what is happening, what you're looking for, and any previous diagnoses or supports. We'll then recommend the therapist on our team whose experience, approach, and availability best match your needs.
We offer in-person psychotherapy in Toronto at Yonge and Lawrence and virtual therapy across Ontario.
“When I have students struggling with emotional regulation or disruptive behaviour in class, I recommend this team. Their positive behaviour support planning doesn't just stay theoretical; they help families apply strategies at home and even liaise with teachers and medical professionals when needed.
The progress we’ve seen in some students is measurable, with fewer classroom incidents and more self-confidence.”
